Tr\u00e8s engag\u00e9e, elle fonde avec Maria Deraismes la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 pour la revendication des droits civils des femmes en 1869 et publie dans le journal \u00ab\u00a0Le Cri du Peuple\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Surnomm\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0la vierge rouge\u00a0\u00bb, son activisme pendant la Commune lui vaut d\u2019\u00eatre d\u00e9port\u00e9e en Nouvelle-Cal\u00e9donie de 1873 \u00e0 1880. Amie de Victor Hugo qui lui d\u00e9dit un po\u00e8me (www.senat.fr\/evenement\/archives\/D31\/viro.html) comme de Cl\u00e9menceau, elle reste une militante anarchiste active jusqu\u2019\u00e0 sa mort \u00e0 74 ans.
